Applications are invited for appointment as Curriculum Development Officer (at the rank of Assistant Lecturer) in the Centre for Advancement of Chinese Language Education and Research (CACLER) within the Faculty of Education, to commence as soon as possible until August 2018, with the possibility of renewal.
Applicants should possess (i) a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Chinese language or language education; (ii) a professional teaching qualification (e.g. PGDE); (iii) a minimum of 3 years’ post-qualification teaching experience; (iv) a good command of written and spoken English and Chinese; (v) the ability to communicate in Cantonese; (vi) proficiency in IT applications and Chinese computer operation; and (vii) knowledge of quantitative and/or qualitative statistical analysis. Experience in developing school-based curriculum and/or teaching Chinese for non-Chinese speaking students will be an advantage.
The appointee will be responsible for developing Chinese language curriculum specially designed for non-Chinese speaking students; collaborating with school teachers to develop school-based curriculum and teaching materials; conducting research on the teaching and learning of Chinese for non-Chinese speaking student with investigators, experts and teachers; conducting teacher seminars, workshops and conferences; analyzing research data and writing up research reports; developing and promoting good exemplars, teaching strategies and resource packages, etc. Those with less experience may be considered for the post of Assistant Curriculum Development Officer (at the rank of Teaching Assistant).
A highly competitive salary commensurate with qualifications and experience will be offered, in addition to annual leave and medical benefits.
