Full-time/Part-time Lecturer/Assistant Lecturer (holding the title of Curriculum Development Officer) in the Centre for Advancement of Chinese Language Education and Research (CACLER) within the Faculty of Education (Ref.: 201800424) (to commence as soon as possible until February 2019, with the possibility of renewal)
Applicants should possess a Bachelor's degree or above in Chinese language or language education; a professional teaching qualification (e.g. PGDE); and at least 5 years' post-qualification teaching experience. They should also have a good command of written and spoken English and Chinese; experience in developing collaborative relationships with principals and teachers for systematic inquiry in teaching and learning; knowledge of educational research; and experience in conducting classroom-based research. Experience in developing school-based curriculum and/or teaching Chinese for non-Chinese speaking students will be an advantage. Those with a Master’s degree and rich experience in school-based Chinese language curriculum development may be considered for the post of Lecturer.
The appointee will be responsible for collaborating with school teachers to develop school-based Chinese language curriculum; designing teaching materials specially for non-Chinese speaking kindergarten / primary students; providing coaching to teachers to improve instruction through collaborative lesson planning with reference to needs and goals, lesson observing and providing feedback; conducting teachers' professional development courses and conferences; conducting research on teaching and learning of Chinese for non-Chinese speaking students; and writing up action plans, research reports and exemplars for the dissemination of good practices in innovative teaching strategies and enhancing teachers' professional capabilities.
