Teacher-Researcher (at the rank of Senior Research Assistant/Research Assistant I/II) in the Centre for Advancement of Chinese Language Education and Research (CACLER) within the Faculty of Education (Ref.: 201800733) (to commence as soon as possible until August 31, 2019, with the possibility renewal)
Applicants should possess a Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education, Chinese Education, Social Science or related disciplines with at least 3 years' post-qualification teaching experience in kindergartens. They should have a good command of written and spoken English and Chinese (Cantonese); familiarity with MS Office application (Word, Excel, PowerPoint etc); and excellent administrative, interpersonal and organizational skills. They should also be enthusiastic, responsible, and able to work independently and as a team. Those with experience in teaching non-Chinese speaking children will have an advantage. An energetic team player who is enthusiastic and takes initiative in providing quality research support service to investigators and other stakeholders is highly desirable.
The appointee will be responsible for assisting the Project Investigators to conduct research on the teaching and learning of Chinese for non-Chinese speaking kindergarten students; teach Chinese to non-Chinese speaking kindergarten students; work with partnership school teachers to develop school-based materials as well as pedagogies on teaching Chinese to non-Chinese speaking kindergarten students; write research reports and evidence-based pedagogical reports; organize teacher seminars, training programmes and conferences; and perform other duties assigned.
