The first conference of our KG-USP project entitled ‘Conference on the Learning of Chinese in Multicultural Preschool’ was held on 21-22/3/2014 at Graduate House. It is our honor to have Prof. Ference Marton (Professor Emeritus, Department of Education, The University of Gothenburg, Sweden) and Prof. Nirmala Rao (Serena H.C. Yang Professor in Early Childhood Development and Education, Faculty of Education, HKU) to deliver two Distinguished Keynote Speeches on ‘Varied Practice for Better Learning’ and ‘Helping Non-Chinese Children Learn Chinese in Preschools in Hong Kong’ respectively on the Day 1 Conference. Our Centre Director, Prof. SK Tse, was invited to deliver a keynote speech on ‘Unleash Non-Chinese Speaking Children’s Potential from the Perspective of Learning and Teaching’ on the Day 2 Conference. The Conference themes were addressed through 28 plenary, paper and poster presentations as well as forum. The Conference was a great success with over 250 teachers and education practitioners coming from over 80 schools and education sectors locally and internationally.
