The Experience Sharing Seminar on the Effective Transition for Non-Chinese Speaking Kindergarten and Primary School Students was held on 1 April 2017 at Conference Hall, 4/F, HKPC Building, Kowloon Tong. It was organized by University-School Support Programme housed under CACLER, namely “Effective Student Transition: Facilitating the Learning of the Chinese Language of Non-Chinese Speaking (NCS) Kindergarten (K.3) Students in the Transition to Primary School (2015-17)”*, led by Dr. Wai Ip Lam.
The dissemination seminar invited teachers from project schools (two kindergartens and one primary school) to share their experience and provided a platform for knowledge exchange, with special emphasis on the transition issue from pre-primary to primary level for culturally diverse children. The event has attracted 260 participants, with 195 teachers and principals from 58 kindergartens and 65 participants from 38 primary schools. The research-based school practices and perspectives shared by partnership schools and the keynote speeches delivered by project investigators have brought valuable insight and inspiration to the field.
