Objectives
Han-characters shared in a variety of forms among a number of Asian languages constitute a unique linguistic phenomenon. Hanja is taught in Korea, kanji in Japan, Chinese in Mainland China and Singapore learn simplified hanzi while Chinese in Taiwan and Hong Kong learn the traditional Chinese. This Conference aims to bring together scholars, researchers and practitioners from different Asian countries to foster international knowledge exchange and research collaboration on Han-characters education and research. Building upon accomplishments and successes of the first nine conferences, the tenth one will be held in China, Shaanxi, on 20~21 August 2021.
Themes
(1) Han-character education: including theoretical frameworks, teaching and learning materials, pedagogical strategies, information technology in Han character education; classical or literary Chinese among others.
(2) Research on Han-characters: including history, philology, theoretical studies, annotation, graphemic analysis, etc.
(3) Other related areas: research on Chinese language teaching and Chinese linguistics.

* We will have a final decision on 20 April 2021 to confirm whether the conference will be required to switch to an online mode due to latest development of the COVID-19 situation.
** Submission of the final abstract is compulsory, but the submission of full paper is optional. The paper should be your original work and it has not been previously published.
Presentation session plan
- Parallel sessions will include
- Oral presentations and
- Postgraduate Student Forum
- Oral presentation: 30minutes for each presenter
Presentation Languages
- Presentations will be conducted mainly in Chinese (Mandarin) and may be supplemented by English.
· The Conference Organizer will not provide interpretation service. Presenters may arrange their interpreters on their own if so wish. The whole presentation, including interpretation, if any, should be finished within the time limit.
- Powerpoint files (PPT) which are prepared in English/Korean/Japanese/Vietnamese should be supplemented by Chinese for reference.
