Prof. S.K. Tse, one of the founders of the CACLER and core investigators, had received the ‘Eminent Scholars Award (榮譽學者獎)’ from Singapore Centre for Chinese Language (新加坡華文教研中心) in mid of September 2018. It was presented by Mr. Ong Ye Kung, Minister for Education, Singapore. It is the first Eminent Scholars Award and is presented to prominent scholars who have made outstanding contributions to Singapore Chinese language education in general and Singapore Centre for Chinese Language in particular. The other two awardees were Prof Chew Cheng Hai (周清海), and Dr Soh Kay Cheng (蘇啟禎博士).

Internationalisation through cross-border collaboration: Offshore master programme in Chinese Language Education
The Master of Education (MEd) programme in Teaching and Learning Chinese Language is one of the two HKU programmes offered jointly with institutions outside Hong Kong that lead to a HKU degree. The MEd programme offers a specialist strand, Teaching and Learning Chinese Language (T&LCL), in collaboration with the Singapore Centre for Chinese Language (SCCL) of Nanyang Technological University (NTU) since January 2012.
Prof. Tse Shek Kam, the programme coordinator of this MEd Programme from 2011 to 2016, is the key person who initiated the programme and made the connection between HKU and NTU.

43 students from Singapore attending classes, school visits and conference in Hong Kong between June 2 and14, 2014. The Master of Education (Teaching and Learning Chinese Language) [MEd (T&LCL)] is a two-year part-time offshore programme being offered exclusively to the Chinese language in-service teachers in Singapore. Every year, students are required to attend classes in Singapore in March and September and Summer Session Study in Hong Kong in June.
