The Quality Education Secretariat under Education Bureau has commissioned the Centre for Advancement of Chinese Language Education and Research (CACLER), Faculty of Education, HKU to host the "QEF Thematic Network (QTN) on Chinese Language" in the fourth school year since 2011 with a cumulative grant of 12 million. This series of projects, led by Prof. SK Tse, aim to assist schools to develop school-based self-learning Chinese language curriculum and assist teachers to recognize the self-learning strategies of students. Moreover, it also helps the collaborating schools’ teachers to develop curriculum design to facilitate students’ self-learning capabilities and implement such design into their classroom teaching. The Project has already collaborated with over 70 primary and secondary partnership schools during the past three school years and it will continue to serve 33 partnership schools in the current school year. A briefing session was conducted on 11 October 2014 and it attracted over 160 school administrators and teachers coming from 90 local schools to attend.
