This three-year project aims at 1) Building teachers’ and curriculum leaders’ capacity on planning and developing effective instructional and assessment strategies to foster the learning of NCS children in kindergartens from a multicultural perspective with major focus on teaching and learning of Chinese as a second language in Hong Kong; 2) Generating knowledge on curriculum planning, effective instructional and assessment strategies for the learning of pre-primary NCS children with major focus on teaching and learning of Chinese language in Hong Kong; and developing exemplary research-based good practices on school-based curriculum planning, effective instructional and assessment strategies and diagnostic tools for assessing the learning needs of NCS children. The project will provide intensive school support and professional development programmes to pre-primary educators of kindergartens who are teaching NCS children to develop a multicultural educational perspective which is fully embedded in their organizational culture and solidly anchored with good practices and knowledge generated for their daily practices and further development.
