The project aims to develop a series of learning and teaching materials in the form of textbook tied in with "learning Framework" to support the daily teaching of the Chinese Language teachers. The materials will have the following characteristics: (1) adopt the sequence of second language learning, which is from oracy (listening and speaking) to literacy (reading and writing) to ensure the effective learning; (2) address comprehensible input and output in order to ensure the transferability and internalization of language ability; (3) selected the texts that are related to the experiences and cultural background of students and application of language activity will be arranged; (4) facilitate a smooth transition of NCS students from Key Stage 1 (primary 1 to 3) to Key Stage 2 (primary 4 to 6); (5) cover mainly the expected learning outcomes of Levels 2 and 3 of the "Learning Framework" which in terms of grade level, suitable for non-native students studying in Primary 3 and Primary 4 in general.
