The project aims at promoting assessment literacy of Chinese Language teachers in four primary schools and building their capacity in adopting classroom teaching/assessment strategies and developing/designing materials and activities to enhance the effectiveness of learning, teaching and assessment (LTA) by: (a) formulating interactional teaching/assessment strategies (e.g. questioning) with a focus on reflection and metacognition in reading comprehension; (b) designing and enhancing the need-focused LTA materials; (c) providing school-based capacity building workshops on the design of a quality reading assessment task and effective use of assessment data; and (d) providing professional views and suggestions to the participating teachers on the use of assessment data to inform and enhance primary students’ learning of reading strategies. All these materials are to be uploaded to the Web-based Learning and Teaching Support (WLTS) and the Student Assessment Repository (STAR).
