Research Assistant I/II in the Centre for Advancement of Chinese Language Education and Research (CACLER) within the Faculty of Education(Ref.: 201800916) (to commence as soon as possible for one year, with the possibility of renewal)
Applicants should possess a Bachelor's degree in Education, Chinese Language, Social Science, Cognitive Science or equivalent. They should have good command of written and spoken English and Chinese (Cantonese); good interpersonal and organizational skills; and be familiar with MS Office applications, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint etc. They should also be self-motivated, responsible, and able to work independently and in a team. Teaching experience, especially in teaching Chinese as a second language, will be an advantage.
The appointee will assist the Principal Investigator to implement a research project related to supporting learning of Chinese as a second language for non-Chinese speaking students at pre-school level. He/She will co-ordinate with different parties; provide regular school support for teachers who are teaching non-Chinese speaking kindergarteners and the funding bodies; administer assessment tasks at kindergartens; assist in the research process including literature searching; collecting, transcribing and analyzing research data; prepare progress reports; organize seminars and workshops; provide secretarial and research support to the project; and perform other duties as assigned.
