| Conference on “Effective Methods of Teaching Chinese Characters for Preschoolers” (幼兒有效漢字學與教：高效漢字認讀及書寫發展）was held on 31 March 2013 at Rayson Huang Theatre at HKU. It is to disseminate research outcomes of a Project entitled ‘Promoting Effective Methods of Teaching Chinese Characters to Young Children in Hong Kong: Ways of Teaching Pupils to recognise and Write Chinese Characters’. This two-year project, funded by Quality Education Fund, aims to promote effective methods of teaching Chinese characters to pre-primary students through case studies, school visits, lesson observations and trial teaching in 6 pre-primary schools. The conference was greatly received by pre-primary school teachers and principals. Over 400 teachers attended the conference. |
