The Centre for Advancement of Chinese Language Education and Research (CACLER) of the Faculty collaborated with the United World College (UWC), Graduate Institute of Teaching Chinese as a Second/Foreign Language of Kaohsiung Normal University, International and Cross-strait Affairs of I-Shou University and International College of Chinese Studies of East China Normal University to co-host the Fifth International School Chinese Language Education Conference and Workshop (「第五屆國際學校華語教育研討會暨工作坊」) at United World College (UWC), Changshu, China from December 1 to 2, 2017.
During the two day Conference, our colleagues led by Dr. Elizabeth Loh KY, Dr. Mark Shum SK and Dr. Ki WW under the Projects of Supporting the Learning and Teaching of Chinese Language for Learners of Chinese as a Second Language in Secondary Schools (PoCSL) and School Support Programme (SSP) presented research papers of various pedagogies, namely Reading to learn (R2L), Drama in Chinese as a second language learning (DiCSL) and Technology enhanced collaborative and seamless learning of Chinese as a second language (mLang) in the workshop and parallel research presentation sessions. Dr. Elizabeth Loh KY also represented the Faculty to sit on stage of the Open Forum and answer the questions from the audience.
